gold that yielded over 5 ounces to various members of the second week. The
total ounces of gold for week two came in just under the 15 oz mark. The crew
at Ganes would like to thank the first two weeks for their positive attitudes
and look forward to seeing familar faces in 2008.
Hardworking Week 3 July 1-6

nearly 6 oz of gold in their first afternoon, a trend that continued through the

Ganes Creek. Among the larger nuggets uncovered were a 4.88 oz, 2.75 oz, and
a nice 1.94 oz.
The 'July Gang' July 8-14 & July 15-21
Lots of pushing and detecting in week 4 yielded quite a few small solid and
quartzy nuggets. Including a very pretty 3/4 oz nugget found by Todd Mullican
and a 1 oz plus nugget found by Randy Clements downstream from the black
hills.Tom Kunkler led the way in week 5 when he found a 3.5 oz beauty infront
of the DC-4 airplane, and later uncovered two other nuggets that weighed in over
the 1 oz mark. The rest of the crew from week five pulled in numerous other
nuggets, including several attractive gold nuggets laced with white quartz.Clients
also enjoyed a special treat when a C-130 Herc airplane dropped off a new
excavator for the hardrock company currently searching for the source of all those
big nuggets at Ganes Creek. The gold totals from week 4 and 5 brought the overall
number of ounces found in 2007 over the 90 oz mark with two
groups to come.
The Fall Session August 5-11
The first group of August, despite stormy weather and some tough metal detecting,
managed to have a good time and uncover some quality gold. Dick Brown became
the man of the week when he uncovered a solid 2.12 ounce nugget, found near the
end of the day while Dick was getting ready to take a short break and lay
in the shade. The group finished the week with a total of 7.15 ounces.

giant right in front of the Ganes Creek Camp. The following day Bernie
Pendergast came close to matching Bruce, whenhe unearthed a large
11.7 ounce nugget from the cobbles opposite the DC-4 airplane.
During the final week there were four other nuggets found over the 1 oz
mark including an interesting specimen piece found by Steve Webb
weighing 3.4 ounces. The final total of 37.98 ounces, for the last week in
