             Welcome to Ganes

                                  Creek Alaska

         - Check below for final detecting openings in 2008

The opportunity of a lifetime! Your chance to metal detect for large gold nuggets

on Alaska's largest, premier nugget producing creeks - Ganes Creek, Alaska.

The largest nugget found at Ganes Creek weighed 122 ounces - over ten troy

pounds!

Ganes Creek has produced over 250,000 ounces of gold... and much of that gold

includes some of the largest nuggets ever found in Alaska. Thousands of acres of

tailing piles contain nuggets lost by bucketline dredges and inefficient bulldozer

operations of the past. The chances of finding very large nuggets on Ganes Creek

with a metal detector are some of the best in Alaska.  Roads and trails run the

length of the operation, making for easy access.  2007 produced 35 more ounces than 2006!

Over the last seven years over 1,270 ounces of gold were found by prospecting metal detectors

on the Ganes Creek property.

Metal Detecting Review 2007

The last group of the year started off their week with a 'big one', when on

the first day of the Metal Detecting week Bruce Brown dug up a 13.7 ounce

giant right in front of the Ganes Creek Camp.  The following day Bernie

Pendergast came close to matching Bruce, when he unearthed a large

11.7 ounce nugget from the cobbles opposite the DC-4 airplane.

During the final week there were four other nuggets found over the 1 oz

mark including an interesting specimen piece found by Steve Webb

weighing 3.4 ounces.  The final total of 37.98 ounces, for the last week in

August, turned out to be the highest of the summer, barely edging out Gerry's

group from the first week in June. Bringing the final total for the summer of

2007 to over 147 ounces.

The Clark/Wiltz Mining family would like to thank everyone who visited

Ganes Creek in 2007 and look forward to familiar and new faces in 2008.
